Question 4

how did you use new techniques in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
In our A2 project, we as a group used a different range of media software, e.g. Imovie, Garage band, hand held camera's Photoshop. each of these helped us create our projects and ancillary texts, throughout our project we used Apple IMAC computers to help us do this, this was helped us a lot as it had a wide range of high technology software to give us a professional look for our project. most of our Microsoft software we used such as word or powerpoint was during our research, it helped us create mood boards and questionnaires. it was also so planning and evaluation.

All of the software that we used in our project helped us through all of the stage. Microsoft allowed us to write out a filming plan to help us keep on top of things, it helped us write a production schedule of what we have done on our blogs and what we haven't this was so we didn't fall behind on them. For our magazine front cover and trailer poster, we used Photoshop, Ashleigh was in charge of this because she had the experience, but we all chipped in to help decide what goes where. the software that we used on the imacs were the best option because they were made for real film companies to do their films on, we used imovie because it had all the transitions, titles and it was easy to upload. I was in charge of editing because of my experience, I knew how to do a lot of things from my previous experience in AS. we used Youtube to help us upload all of our filming to link it to our blogs, we used Twitter and Facebook to help us get audience feedback, this is because we all had friends that fit our target audience so they would enjoy watching the trailer a lot more. we also used Youtube to help research different trailers within our genre, this was so we could know how long the trailers were and what they include. we used Garage band to help create the music for our trailer and used the internet and Youtube to help us find methods if we didn't know how to do it. we also used photoshop tutorials on the internet if we weren't sure on how to do an effect.

the cameras that we had used for our project we had used were digital standard cameras, this was so we had the consistency of pixels on our footage, so it looked smooth all the way through, we used handheld cameras to create the documentary style that we wanted, this was by filming us ourselves and off framing shots all of the professional footage we used and filmed was by Rebecca this is because of her experience of her AS course. During the course of our project we also used Blogger, this was to blog all of our research and planning for our trailer in order for teachers, my group members and the examiner to see all of our progress in this project. we also used this to post all of our evaluation on it.Overall media technology allowed us as a group to construct our research, planning and evaluation. each of the programmes we used helped us create all of our trailer and ancillary texts which allowed us to create our whole project as a group.

Media Question 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

For this question we as a group decide to answer this question together, so in regards to this we made a voice recording of our answer. As a group we then discussed our views and what we have learnt from this experience we shared together and how we could make our media products and posters they best could be.

As you can see there are different screen shots, each of them have been included in our clip. So see below to how these pictures linked to our answer.

Question 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

we as a group we decided to film the whole thing. the reason for this is because we felt that we needed to discuss what we felt went well and what didn't during the course of our project. we also felt that we needed to talk about as a group why we chose the genre and the target audience in our trailer and also why we used the texts, font, image in our poster and magazine.

after looking back at this video and commenting on how we felt about our final product and ancillary texts, I do agree that in our magazine front cover there wasn't enough subtitles, however to some extent I feel that if we added more then it would look too busy and cramped.

Question 1

in what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

This is a wide shot from the beginning of our trailer. The reason we included this place into our trailer is because it shows our target audience the location and the characters in our trailer. From this shot we can see that our characters are portrayed as being vulnerable because of the trees that happen to be towering over them making them look insignificant. We used the lighting in this shot because it is light in the centre, however it gets darker the further down the shot, this represents the darkness that is coming for them towards the end of the trailer.

this is another shot that we as a group decided to place into our trailer, the reason for this is because earlier on in the project we had to research different shots that were within our Thriller genre. The Sun newspaper main target audience is older men, we chose this because older men tend to watch thriller movies because of the good looking girls that are included in the movies. we used the word riveting this is because it creates an impression of a trailer that is filled with excitement and suspense. this then builds up an idea that the film is everything that our target audience wanted enough to watch the film. during the course of our research we had to look at different reviews that were involved in the same genre of our trailer. when thinking about what review to put we wanted to include the word riveting because of the amount of suspense it had.

this shot is at the end of the trailer, this is the title of our film. we placed it centre stage, the reason we did this is because when things are placed in the centre they tend to be important, and the title for a movie is important. we gave the title a big font to because it will stand out more and the audience will also remember the name. we put this shot at the end because we felt that the audience would know the name of the film if it was placed at the end of the trailer. in the audio we placed two screams as a voice over. we did this to make the audience

in regards to real media reviews they are always stamped with an award to show how far their film has been successful. when researching earlier on in our project we found that it was very important and powerful to have this kind of shot put in, it shows the target audience when watching it how successful the film is which will then hopefully make them want to see it. so we then decided to place it in, we as a group decided to go with Audience Choice Award because it shows the audience that other people who are their age think that this trailer is worth a see

this is another shot that we included into our trailer. this shot is a low angle shot  it also shows a direct gaze of the protagonist in the trailer. however we have broken away from the typical Thriller trailer, the reason for this is because we have gotten her to film it herself instead of a professional camera. The reason that we have chosen this angle is it because it then lets the audience have a close up of the characters expression on her face. it shows the fear and curiosity on her face when she is heading towards the woods. this follows a typical Thriller trailer because it lets the audience know that the main character is always the ' chosen one'

this shot is of 2 of our 3 characters in our film, it is the pro and antagonist. we think as a group we fit in to the conventions of most trailers that fit our genre. this is where the protagonist is hiding something to give a feeling of suspense. the angle of this shot allows us to see both characters and the type of location that they are in. we decided to go for a middle shot is because we wanted both of the characters to be seen, with a bit of location to make the audience aware. the background of this shot gives the audience an understanding of the location and the way the characters are placed, to suggest that an accident may occur, however when that will happen, the audience doesn't know. the reason for this is because we wanted the audience to be engaged in the film.
